Information

Rose City Laboratories has made history as the first laboratory in the country to be accredited by a state agency to pioneer accurate QC methods for the quantification of psilocybin and psilocin in psilocybin mushrooms using Shimadzu HPLC. This monumental achievement not only addresses the long-standing analytical challenges in the field but also has profound implications. These precise QC methods empower researchers, regulators, and the burgeoning psilocybin industry with the tools needed for accurate analysis, product quality assurance, and compliance with evolving regulations. Furthermore, the establishment of these methods by Rose City Laboratories sets a precedent for the development of robust analytical procedures for emerging compounds in the realm of psychoactive substances. The journey began nearly 2 years ago with Oregon measure 109. Hundreds of hours have been dedicated to developing these processes, which humbly began with store-bought button mushrooms and other fruiting body fungi foraged from the Northwest. Senior Chemist Bjorn Fritzsche retells how Rose City Lab's team of chemists, scientists and developers created reliable testing protocols, utilized industry testing standards, and the long journey toward compliance with the Oregon's regulatory requirements.
