Information

In today's rapidly evolving research landscape, it is crucial for scientists to communicate their work effectively to diverse audiences. In different scenarios, e.g. presenting a poster or talk at a focused research conference, writing a grant application, correcting public misconception of a scientific topic, delivering project updates to cross-functional teams, raising awareness of a field of scientific research, etc., the strategies of communication are different.
This interactive workshop is designed to equip interdisciplinary researchers with the skills and strategies necessary to engage both technical and non-technical audiences through clear and compelling communication. The workshop will delve into tailoring scientific information for different target groups (e.g. fellow researchers, policymakers, the media, general public) based on the demographics of the participants.
Participants will learn how to distill complex concepts into accessible language, craft compelling narratives, and leverage visuals and multimedia to enhance their message's impact. Additionally, the workshop will explore the role of social media and emerging technologies, such as AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT, to help researchers disseminate their innovations in an engaging and impactful manner, whether it be writing funding applications, raising awareness, increasing branding, showcasing innovations, etc.
Through interactive exercises, group discussions, and hands-on activities, participants will have the opportunity to apply the learned techniques and receive constructive feedback from peers.

The workshop will cover the following:
- Introduction to Science Communication
- Crafting Clear and Compelling Messages
- Communication Channels and Strategies
- Leveraging AI for Science Communication
- Collaborate across disciplines
