My Joyride on the Raman Spectroscopy Renaissance Express

The renaissance of Raman spectroscopy started around the 1990s shows no sign of ebbing, fueled in large part by new applications, innovative methods, and instrumentation advancements. I’d liken the Raman industry to a great train carrying us into the future. Users take advantage of its convenience like passengers hopping on and off to get to places. Some stay on board longer, conducting, maintaining, or improving the machine, and making our journey faster and smoother. Since getting on this train some 30 years ago, I have had the good fortune to meet many wonderful fellow passengers, and made small improvements to the machinery here and there. It has been a joyful and rewarding ride, where math, science, and engineering met.
