Information

For over 30 years, CVD coatings have been applied to chromatographic equipment to improve the properties of the fluidic flow path. Injections needles, injections ports, valves, fittings, columns, and more have all seen various surface treatments to render the stainless steel material inert to sensitive analytes. This talk will give a short history of two of the most successful coatings in the chromatographic industries for stainless steel: SilcoNert and Dursan. The history of their discovery, coating properties and application, as well as case studies of their use in space, oil fields, and in vitro medical devices will be discussed.
